The word Swami is made up of two Sanskrit roots: “Swa” meaning “self”, and “mi” meaning mastery. A Swami is not necessarily a Master per se, but is on a dedicated path to Mastery. My name “Swami Samnyasanand” is a Sanskrit word where “Sam” means pure, total or complete; “nyasa” means to give, to serve, or to renounce; and “anand” refers to the true nature of the bliss of pure consciousness.
Meredith firmly believes in the power of sound as vibrational medicine for the people and the Earth, and has been guiding sacred sound ceremonies for Tasmania for the last 4 years, whilst also teaching yoga, caring for her 3 beautiful children, and making healing music.
The Saraswati Symphony began decades ago in India as a small group of dedicated kirtanists from different backgrounds and lineages who come together to inspire and uplift through music. The kirtan band expands to include other musicians and singers who add to the soundscape. Current line up includes Swami Sam on vocals, didgeridoo, harmonium, Indian drum, guitar, and mandolin; Meredith Rose on vocals, harmonium, and shruti box; and Steve on lead guitar and shruti box.
